Kenneth Padgett
Ken is the Founder and Chief Instructor of Xtreme Tactical LLC.
His vast knowledge and skills within the Law Enforcement community have truly set him apart from all the rest. Ken has served 25 years in Law Enforcement, ten years as a member of the a SWAT team and now serving as a full-time Instructor at a Police Academy. While assigned to the Swat Bureau, Ken held and worked in the positions of Acting Supervisor, Team Leader, Firearms Instructor, Tactical Team Instructor, Crowd Control Instructor, VIP Security Instructor, Sniper Instructor, Immediate Action Rapid Deployment Instructor, Less Lethal Instructor, A.C.T (Arrest Control Tactics) Instructor, and Armorer.
During his career Ken has received numerous Commendatory Letters, Official Commendations, and Chief Unit Citations and is the recipient of Two Police Department’s Medal of Valor, Three Distinguished Service Crosses, Two Purple Hearts, Merit Awards, and a Life saving award. He also proudly displays campaign awards presented to him from the Pope’s visit, the World Summit, and the Democratic National Convention.
In November 2003: As a result of a commendable act of courage, Ken was nominated for the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor.
The Medal of Valor is the highest National Award that can be bestowed on public safety officers.
Attorney General John Ashcroft stated in a letter to Ken: “It is awarded to public safety officers who have demonstrated extraordinary courage, dedication to duty, and selfless commitment to the safety of their fellow citizens. This nomination for the Medal of Valor distinguishes him as one who is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. On behalf of the Department of Justice, I thank you for your exceptional dedication to public safety. You are an asset to your community and to the United States of America”.
Ken also had the opportunity and privilege to train, work with, and instruct along side many different Law Enforcement Groups and Agencies across the nation. Groups like the United States Marshals, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Secret Service, U.S Customs, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S Navy SEALS, U.S Army Special Forces, and numerous other state and local departments.
He has taken his talents and expanded into the realm of TV and Motion Pictures. Ken provides choreography and firearms training for actors and stunt performers. His real life experiences and expertise have added a flare of realism to the motion picture industry, and yes he has, in fact appeared in many movies and has served as a consultant both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
Deployments and Training areas include but not limited to: U.S Presidential or Cabinet Member Security, VIP or Prisoner Escort, Arrest of Fugitives and/or armed and deadly suspects, Barricaded suspects, immediate entry warrant service, Hostage rescue, Heavy response teams, immediate action rapid deployment, Active shooter response, Sniper / counter sniper, Field Force / Crowd Control, and Extrication Teams.
Robert Rathburn
Robert (Rob) Rathburn retired from the Denver Police Department after 30 years of service. His assignments included vice/narcotics, sex crimes and homicide. He is the recipient of his department's Medal of Valor and Distinguished Service Cross. Rob was responsible for the development and implementation of the Denver Police Department's urban rifle program, an intensive five-day training course for the patrol division. Rob is the author of the "Urban Rifle Manual," a textbook of instruction on the patrol rifle concept and the co-creator of the first Colorado P.O.S.T - approved rifle instructor development course. He produced over 20 training videos for his department on police firearms and tactics and was instrumental in the creation of his agency's less lethal training curriculum. An alumnus of Jeff Cooper's American Pistol Institute, from 1996 to 2004 Rob was an adjunct instructor at Thunder Ranch Texas where he taught classes on handgun, shotgun, urban rifle, precision rifle and team tactics. In 2005 Rob was the co-designer of an innovative lightweight ballistic shield design now marketed by a major body armor production company. An avid competitive rifle shooter, Rob is a certified NRA police firearms instructor for handgun, shotgun, rifle and select-fire weapons. Currently, Rob is a writer for American Handgunner magazine and an adjunct instructor for the Colorado State Patrol Academy where he teaches classes in criminal investigation.
